My Fellow Mavericks,

I can not believe that it has been 20 years since we last walked the halls of James Madison High School. Each one of us has been through so much over these last 20 years: We have gotten married and/or divorced, had children (some of which have graduated from high school themselves), formed families, traveled the world, developed careers, lost loved ones. We have voted in 5 elections and have witnessed a historical election of President Barack Obama this past November 4th. We have been through Operation Desert Storm and now the 2nd Gulf War, we have witnessed the horror of terrorism in our homeland and have seen the bravery of our men and women of the military. Some of these men and women are our fellow classmates who deserve our greatest respect and admiration.

Whewwww........so, with that said, welcome to the Mavs89 website. The march of time continues to the weekend of July 10th and 11th, 2009 to our 20 Year High School Reunion. It will begin on Friday July 10th at Mo Mak's Backyard off of Jones Maltsburger in San Antonio. This event will be a family event (optional of course, if you want to leave your children at home, feel free). This venue is very kid friendly and will keep them occupied while you reconnect with old friends. The committee realizes that coming from out of town, it might be difficult to get a sitter for both nights, that is why we decided to do this. We have a group discount on meals and drinks, but the cost of those are not included in the reunion fee. We have left the option for you to spend as little or as much as you would like on this evening for drinks and food. It is basically a mixer. Saturday we will have a tour of the high school in the afternoon. Saturday night will be at the Buckhorn Saloon in Downtown San Antonio. The cost for the entire weekend is $70 per person if you pay by June 11th (kids are free and are welcome at everything except the Saturday night event). That price includes the venues for both nights, food and entertainment on Saturday night, and a special gift for everyone. There will be a cash bar on Saturday night and we will reserve a block of rooms at a couple of hotels in the downtown area. Detailed announcements will be posted at a later date on this site.

The committee's main goal for the 20th reunion was to organize an event that was affordable to everyone. My fellow Mavs, we want an exceptional turnout!!!!!! We want to have fun and reconnect, tell our stories of the last 20 years, so help us spread the word!!! Tell everyone you still keep in touch with. Remember to register and pay early. This site is enabled now with a PayPal checkout option to reserve your tickets for the reunion! We also have a James Madison 1989 group on Facebook called "Madison H.S. Class of '89". It's free, so get everyone you know from our class to sign up! Upload pictures on the mavs89 site and use the discussion board.....it's going to be so fun.
